The CUP NY Fellows Program is a transformative, one-year leadership development experience for early-to-mid career diverse professionals across sectors who are deeply committed to supporting their communities through impactful contributions to the non-profit and public sectors. The CUP NY Fellows Program workshops and speakers provide participants with insight into the challenges and opportunities in the civic sectors, and encourages participants to harness their power and relationships to create meaningful change through board service, political engagement, volunteerism, public-private partnerships, social entrepreneurship, and more.

Target Population

The CUP NY Fellows Program is geared toward self-motivated diverse professionals from all sectors (public, private and non-profit) with 5-10 years of professional work experience, a demonstrated commitment to public service, and a desire to acquire new skills and information to maximize their civic impact.

Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

Applicants must be employed full-time in the New York tri-state area at the time of application and must plan to remain employed throughout the fellowship. Internships and part-time positions do not meet this requirement. Special consideration is given to applicants who have current or prior experience in the public service sector.

Applicants must not be currently participating in another significant fellowship program, and cannot participate in another fellowship at the same time as the CUP Fellows Program, which runs from February until January.

Applicants must commit to attending the monthly Saturday sessions which will begin at 9:30am. Applicants must also be willing to make the time commitment to meet all deadlines and complete all assignments, as well as pre-session readings and written exercises (approximately two hours per month in addition to the sessions).

The Selection of CUP Fellows is based on the following criteria:

A demonstrated commitment to CUP’s mission to inspire, elevate and empower the next generation of diverse business and civic leaders

A demonstrated commitment to public service through relevant work and volunteer experience

Experience of, and/or potential for, advanced leadership

Academic, professional and/or community achievement

Diverse professionals and women from the business, consulting, finance, law, media and entertainment, non-profit, technology and public sectors

We need you and the world needs us.

CUP believes that, now more than ever, it is critical that diverse professionals are equipped and empowered to realize their full potential and profoundly shape our future. If you are committed to being part of the solution, yet feel you could benefit from building your skill set and network of supporters, we hope you’ll apply to join a future Fellows class!
