Shannon-Janean Currie

As a Vice President at BSG, Shannon-Janean has over ten years of experience conducting research for and working with Fortune 500 corporations, foundations, nonprofits, and emerging businesses. Her unique, non-linear career path across these diverse sectors has given her an unparalleled ability to connect with and understand the needs of communities often overlooked – making her a pollster who consistently drives impactful outcomes for her clients.

Her groundbreaking studies on the state of Black America and criminal justice reform, fueled by her passion for amplifying the voices of the unheard, are a testament to her own trailblazing leadership in the fight for social justice. These efforts led to her receiving the prestigious National Urban League Young Professionals – YP Award, bestowed upon her by the historic civil rights organization for her unwavering commitment to breaking down systemic barriers.

At BSG, Shannon crafts research and messaging that resonates with diverse audiences, from minority and disenfranchised communities to corporations and political campaigns. She understands that effective communication starts with deep listening and understanding – a philosophy that guides her storytelling style. This allows her to weave together quantitative insights with the qualitative narratives of real people, painting a powerful and compelling story of the data she has collected.

Her research, infused with empathy, understanding, and research know-how, has empowered leading organizations like the ACLU, Fwd.us, The Joyce Foundation, StoryCorps, and the Walton Family Foundation to connect with and activate target audiences. She knows how to leverage research to inform market positioning, drive growth for businesses, and shape winning strategies for candidates from President to Mayor, as well as for ballot initiatives.

Whether she’s shaping programming, informing business decisions, or supporting political campaigns, Shannon’s work is driven by a belief that moving the needles requires more than just data – it demands truly understanding the lives of the individual respondents. This passion shines through in her dedication to uncovering the “why” behind the numbers and translating those insights into actionable strategies for clients across sectors.

Shannon holds a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Maryland and a master’s degree in Corporate Communication and Public Relations from New York University.
