Nasir Young
Nasir Young is the East Region Associate for Community Engagement within the Corporate Responsibility department at JPMorgan Chase. In this role, Nasir supports the local implementation and communication of the firm’s mission to drive economic impact in communities across the East Region of the United States through grantmaking, strategic initiatives, and special event activations.
Nasir previously served as a Project Manager for the New York City Department of Transportation, where he led communication strategies and coordinated community engagement and citywide special event planning with city and state agencies, utility companies, and private contractors.
Earlier in his career, he held positions in his hometown of Washington, DC with the Executive Office of the Mayor and the Department of Employment Services. In these roles, Nasir managed the creation and implementation of strategic communications and ensured that District residents received adequate responses to neighborhood concerns by developing collaborative interagency service models.
Before his tenure in government, Nasir worked in the media and entertainment industry, where he was associated with Revelations Entertainment, Creative Artists Agency (CAA), and the NAACP Image Awards. He notably served as a Production Assistant for “The Story of God with Morgan Freeman” (Season 1) and as a Motion Picture Coordinator for the 48th NAACP Image Awards.
Nasir is an alumnus of the University of Vermont, where he was exposed to diverse perspectives on the value of impact, which greatly influenced his involvement in advocacy. He has volunteered with prominent organizations such as Whitman-Walker Health, the Bronx Council on the Arts, Los Angeles LGBT Center, and the Brooklyn Pride Center. In addition, he has participated in advisory committees such as the Office of the Bronx Borough President’s LGBTQ+ Task Force and the NYC Department of Health & Mental Hygiene’s Transgender, Gender Non‐Conforming, and Non‐Binary Community Advisory Board. He is also an alum of the 2022 New Leaders Council (NLC) chapter in New York City.
Outside of his professional commitments, Nasir is passionate about the arts and often spends his free time visiting museums and art galleries that highlight the works of artists of color.
