Kevin Castro

Kevin A. Castro is an experienced science educator from the South Bronx with a deep commitment to engaging and empowering students in diverse, urban settings. After graduating from All Hallows High School, Kevin attended Hamilton College where he majored in Geoscience, with a particular interest in the intersection of cultural and geologic setting. Over the past 8 years, Kevin has successfully implemented experiential learning strategies and innovative curriculum models to foster scientific inquiry and critical thinking. His work includes pioneering lab sequences and guiding social justice-focused discussions within science education, significantly enhancing student performance and engagement.

Currently teaching AP Environmental Science, Earth & Space Science, and Biology at Bronx Latin School, Kevin has served as a mentor with NYC Men Teach, where he has supported new educators in effective instructional practices, and he has taught STEAM programs, addressing pressing local issues like air pollution in the Bronx. Kevin holds a master’s degree of Science in Secondary Earth Science Education from Lehman College. When not in the classroom, you can find Kevin hiking along the lower Hudson Valley or listening to free jazz and death metal with his two cats.
