Tanya N. Blocker is the Assistant General Counsel and Director for the US Employment, Labor and Benefits Group of energy conglomerate National Grid. More recently, Tanya has been relied upon to provide expert counsel for navigating workplace challenges stemming from the pandemic.

Beginning her legal career as a complex commercial litigator at the law firm Kaye Scholer LLP. (kna Arnold Porter Kaye Scholer), Tanya then served as senior counsel in the Labor & Employment Law Division of the NYC Law Department before venturing in-house.

Tanya’s drive and dynamic personality has facilitated her success in leadership as the former President of the Association of Black Women Attorneys. With global leadership in her sights, Tanya has spent considerable time in Accra, Ghana engaging in diversity and governance work and in Lagos, Nigeria presenting on international employment law. Tanya is a Center for Strategic & International Studies Abshire-Inamori Leadership Academy 2019 Fellow—a flagship global leadership program—, and has been recognized for her leadership prowess as a New York Law Journal Distinguished Leader, Profiles in Diversity Journal Women Worth Watching honoree, and the Top 100 Magazine 2020 Top 100 Attorney, among other accolades.

Tanya is also a 2013 CUP ELP alumnus.
