Don Baker

For 20 years Don, as he is affectionately known, has enthusiastically invested his time and energy to serve people whether as a volunteer or a diligent leader in and around Delaware. Before becoming the Chief Executive Officer of Forum to Advance Minorities in Engineering, Inc., FAME Inc., Baker established a reputation for deploying technology to empower people of color, remove barriers to access, and create equitable systems for change. 

Don is a social entrepreneur at heart and his early involvement with companies like Local Net, E.TV Commerce, Virtual Reality Studio’s and others helped to hone his desire to merge leading edge technology with cause driven impact. Today, his efforts to educate and upskill/reskill underrepresented Americans is amplified by the use of AR/VR and the innovative closed loop Tallo® platform. Baker is a true believer in the power of technology to improve the world and solve global challenges. 

Locally and nationally, Don has served as a change agent for several institutions including serving as an appointed member of the New Castle County Diversity and Inclusion Commission, Board Member of the Delaware Foundation for Math and Science Education, NSTA member, and member of the international AFP Board of Directors. Remaining true to his Delaware roots, he continues to serve as a valuable thought partner for organizations like the Delaware STEM Council, the United Way of Delaware, Delaware Pathways, The Delaware Community Foundation, Delaware Alliance for Non-Profit Advancement, Delaware Grant Makers Association, Leadership Delaware and several other organizations. 

Don Baker received his formal training at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia as a Political Science Pre-law major. After receiving a Bachelors Degree he returned to Delaware and began working to complete a Master’s of Science in Management with a concentration in Public Administration from Wilmington University. In 2002 Baker completed his studies and received his M.S., MPA. Don was one of the nation’s first Standards for Excellence ® Licensed Consultants and AFP Certified Master Trainers helping to improve the effectiveness, efficiency, cultural competency, and the longevity of organizations’ in and around the Mid-Atlantic region. 

In his down time, Don, an avid angler, enjoys fishing with family and friends.
