Yusuf George
Mr. George is Co-Head of Engagement and Active Ownership at TCW. In this role, he is responsible for developing and leading TCW’s engagement and active ownership efforts across the firm’s investment platform, as a part of the Sustainable Investment Group. Prior to joining TCW, he was Head of Active Ownership at Engine No. 1 an investment management firm, where he oversaw the active ownership and proxy voting strategy across the firm’s fund portfolio companies. Yusuf began his career in the Capital Markets Division at Barclays Capital, and later worked at JUST Capital, where he led the organization’s corporate engagement strategy, developed and oversaw their racial equity portfolio, and assisted with investor-related engagement.
Yusuf currently serves on the NAACP foundation, is an advisor to As You Sow’s Racial Justice Coalition and sits on the Board of Net Impact. He has previously served on the Boards of Black Women Talk Tech, an organization focused on identifying, providing financial support to, and encouraging Black women to build their own profitable tech startups; the Middle Project Inc., a nonprofit which prepares and unites progressive and ethical leaders for a more just society; and the RedHen Collective, a feminist, worker-owned, wine importer/distributor that is dedicated to a “new wine economy,” one that pays farmers first and shares equity.
Yusuf holds a B.S. in Computer Science from Trinity College in Hartford, CT.
