Kalon Goins
Kalon Goins hails from Roselle, NJ. He has lived in the New York Metropolitan area, Atlanta, GA; Charlotte, NC; and currently calls Downtown Los Angeles home. Kalon originally attended Morehouse College, but later achieved a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and then an Executive Master of Business Administration from University of North Carolina Wilmington. Kalon began his professional career as a flight attendant for a major airline, but after a few years sought new challenges and pursued a career in management. After being mentored by a colleague in Human Resources and recognizing that HR serves as a gatekeeper and influencer of equal opportunities and representation, Kalon decided to pursue that field. He has held various roles including Human Resources and Employee Relations Manager; Sr. HR Business Partner; and Director of HR and Employee Experience, in both the public and private sector. In his various roles, Kalon has worked tirelessly to create programs or implement practices to ensure organizations maintain diverse, engaging, and productive cultures where all employees enjoy coming to work and are treated with dignity and respect. Kalon spends a great deal of his time mentoring students and junior human resources employees.
In his spare time, Kalon enjoys eclectic hobbies and interests. He is an active member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. where he leads activism, philanthropic efforts, and community service projects on multiple committees. Kalon has currently traveled to 71 countries across six continents. As an outdoor enthusiast, Kalon enjoys hiking, camping, or sunbathing on a beach. When at home, Kalon enjoys reading books focused on self-help and career development. When not traveling or expanding his intellect, Kalon enjoys working out, performing community service, watching horror films, cooking, or trying cuisine at new restaurants. He loves his two dogs: Brixton and Kenya. Kalon believes that our lives are all intertwined in the plot of a bigger story, and with each choice we make, we decide whether want to be a hero or villain in that story we call life. Kalon hopes to leave each person he encounters and interacts with better than when he found them.
