Eric A. Love
Eric A. Love is a Vice President in the Legal and Compliance Department at BlackRock, where he provides legal counsel to the firm’s Private Equity Partners, Alternatives Solutions Group and Long Term Private Capital businesses on the formation and operation of a variety of private investment funds, including private equity funds, funds-of-one, separately managed accounts and co-investment funds.
Prior to joining BlackRock, Eric was an associate in the Corporate Department at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP, and a member of the firm’s Private Funds Group. Eric’s practice focused on the organization and operation of private investment funds, including growth equity funds, credit funds, hedge funds and venture capital funds. Eric advised fund sponsors on the development, formation, marketing and operation of their funds and on regulatory and compliance matters for funds and their management companies.
Before joining Paul, Weiss, Eric practiced law at international law firms in New York and Washington, D.C. Among other recognitions, Eric was recognized by Law360 as a 2019 “Rising Star” in Fintech, an award given to a select group of attorneys under the age of 40 whose legal accomplishments transcend their age. Before practicing law, Eric served as an official at the U.S. Department of the Treasury in the Office of Legislative Affairs where he focused on international affairs. Prior to joining Treasury, he worked for a member of the U.S. House of Representatives in a number of positions, including as the senior legislative staff member for financial services.
Eric has a demonstrated commitment to pro bono matters and has represented clients in immigration and family court proceedings. He is currently the Vice President of Finance and previously served on the board of directors of the Metropolitan Black Bar Association, the largest unified association of Black legal professionals in the State of New York. Eric earned a J.D. from American University Washington College of Law and a B.A. from Johnson C. Smith University.
