Kirkland & Ellis LLPSofía is a partner in Kirkland & Ellis’s ESG & Impact Practice Group. Sofía builds upon over a decade of experience in U.S. securities law to advise public and private companies on a wide array of ESG matters. She regularly counsels clients on recent and emerging ESG regulatory developments, and provides advice on ESG disclosures related to transactions, sustainability reports, proxy statements and annual reports.
Sofía’s practice also focuses largely on social and governance issues, including topics such as diversity, equity, and inclusion, pay equity, and human rights. Sofía’s experience advising on governance matters includes assessments of ESG programs through benchmarking and gap analysis, as well as board presentations, trainings, and tabletop exercises. She helps clients to identify opportunities to strengthen their ESG programs and mitigate legal and reputational risks.
Sofía is a child of immigrants and has served on the LatinoJustice PRLDEF Líderes Board and volunteered for the Chicano Latino Youth Leadership Project. She was a CUP Fellow in 2012. Sofía received her B.A. from Stanford University, her Ph.D. from UCLA, and her J.D. from NYU Law. She is a California native and has studied or worked in Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Lebanon, Italy, Japan, and the United Kingdom.
