Meropi Peponides

Meropi Peponides is a theater maker, artistic producer, dramaturg and podcast producer. Her work explores cross-cultural affinity and seeks to disrupt cultural hierarchies by drawing inspiration from and lifting up BIPOC and nonwestern traditions. She is one of the three Directors of Soho Repertory Theatre in New York City, where she has produced the previous six mainstage seasons, including the Pulitzer Prize-winning Fairview by Jackie Sibblies Drury, Is God Is by Aleshea Harris, and Passage by Christopher Chen. She is the co-founder of Radical Evolution, where she most recently co-created Songs About Trains, The Corrido of the San Patricios and Loving and Loving, and where her work has received the prestigious MAP Fund award and support from the National Endowment for the Arts.

She is currently an Audio Podcast Fellow at Stonybrook University. Previous fellowships include the 2019 CreateNYC Leadership Accelerator Cohort; the Time Warner Fellowship with the Women’s Project Lab; and the Tom Prohel Creative Producing Fellowship with The Foundry Theatre. Other organizations with which she has collaborated include The Movement Theatre Company, The Public Theater, 24th Street Theatre and Watts Village Theatre Company.

She received her BA in theatre from UCLA, and her MFA in theatre with an emphasis in Dramaturgy from Columbia University (Dean’s Fellow). She is a member of Artists Co-Creating Real Equity (ACRE), where she organizes for racial justice in the arts and culture sector.
