Riki Esquer
Riki Esquer serves as the Executive and Policy Assistant in the Los Angeles Mayor’s Office of City Services, working closely with the Deputy Mayor, Los Angeles Animal Services Department, and El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historical Monument. She oversees the Deputy Mayor’s calendar and assists in managing an office of 23. She also coordinates Animal Services and El Pueblo policy and engagement with the Mayor’s Office.
Riki earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Health Policy from Mount Saint Mary’s University. While in school, she interned at the Los Angeles Mayor’s Office researching ways the city could combat human trafficking. The data-driven policy proposal was presented to the Commission on the Status of Women and Girls. The Commission worked in partnership with Council District 6 to implement the policy to train Summer Night Lights Youth Squad Members in the signs of human trafficking. She also interned with the Los Angeles Fire Department to determine the best recruitment practices to obtain a diverse workforce.
