Uchenna Ibekwe
Uchenna is an experienced financial services attorney and compliance professional with a focus on investment management and the securities markets. Currently, she is a Vice President in the Legal and Compliance Division of Morgan Stanley where she advises the investment management business on regulatory, policy and corporate governance issues.
Prior to Morgan Stanley, she was a Vice President in the Institutional Clients Group at Citigroup where she advised the foreign exchange, finance and treasury market businesses on regulatory and compliance matters. She began her career as an investment management attorney at the TCW Group. Uchenna is committed to financial empowerment and diversity and inclusion initiatives. In her community, she offers free legal services, through the Neighborhood Entrepreneur Law Project, to low-income entrepreneurs on issues, including incorporation, contracts, and financial planning considerations. Additionally, Uchenna is a member of the Morgan Stanley Legal and Compliance Division Diversity & Inclusion Committee and works extensively on the Diversity Pipeline Initiative to set strategy and develop programming to expose diverse candidates to careers in financial services.
Uchenna is a graduate of Stanford University where she earned her bachelors and masters degrees (concurrently) with honors. She is also a graduate of Columbia Law School and was recognized as a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar, American Bar Association – Business Law Section Fellow and received the Global Business Law and Governance Certificate for her legal studies abroad. Uchenna is a Los Angeles, California native and currently resides in New York City, New York.
