Kwad Acheampong

Senior Vice President, Capital Formation and Client Solutions, PIMCO

Kwad Acheampong is a senior vice president and account manager in the U.S. institutional public client practice based in the New York office. Prior to joining PIMCO in 2021, he was a vice president at PGIM Fixed Income, focused on traditional and alternative fixed-income capital-raising efforts for U.S. and Canadian public entities and corporate, endowment, and foundation entities. Previously, he worked at Goldman Sachs as a proprietary and principal equities trader focused on technology, media, and telecommunications. He has 12 years of investment experience and holds an MBA in finance, entrepreneurship, and organizational behavior from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He received an undergraduate degree from Duke University.

He is a member of the second class of CUP Fellows and a former member of the CUP Fellows Board. In the past, he worked with incumbent Executive Director Chloe Drew to expand membership by conceptualizing and implementing the inaugural CUP Gala Afterparty.

He serves on the board of Chess In the Schools, serving on its Development and Strategic Planning sub-committees. He is also a fellow with the Tom Russell Charitable Foundation which grants money to non-profits that help people to help themselves and prepares fellows for small foundation management. 

A proud Duke alum, Kwad founded and built Duke Black Alumni’s tri-state chapter into Duke’s most active alumni group. He also served as a founding member of America Needs You’s Young Leadership Board, co-chairing its Recruiting Committee and pioneering its Mentor Leadership Council. 

From 2009 – 2012, he ran his own event management company, executing social events for young professionals in the 200-500 persons range in downtown Manhattan. In his spare time, he invests in emerging venture capital enthusiasts focused on investing in companies in Western Sub-Saharan Africa.
