Andrea Nill Sanchez

With over a decade of experience in media, law, labor, and advocacy, Andrea has spent her career working to advance racial, economic, and social justice.

She previously served as a Director at The Raben Group, where she managed a portfolio of clients who relied on her organizational strategy and communications expertise. Andrea’s clients have included major funders, Fortune 500 companies, universities, city agencies, labor unions, and national non-profits. In October of 2019, she will join the AI Now Institute as its Executive Director.

Andrea began her career as a Spanish-language spokesperson for the United Food and Commercial Workers and International Union. She spent several years working on immigration, both as an advocate at the Immigration Policy Center and a reporter at ThinkProgress.

Andrea is currently on the board of Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence. She previously served both on the San Francisco Human Rights Commission and the San Francisco Bar Association’s Criminal Justice Task Force, where she co-chaired the Bias Subcommittee. She has been cited in The New York Times, The Atlantic, The Washington Post, and the Rachel Maddow Show and has appeared on Univision, CNN Español, and Telemundo. Her writing has also been featured in news publications and academic journals, including the Yale Journal of International Law and the Harvard Latino Law Review.

She earned a J.D. from Yale Law School and has a B.A. in Government from Cornell University. Following law school, she clerked for the Honorable Edgardo Ramos in the Southern District of New York and practiced law at Keker, Van Nest & Peters.

Born in Guatemala and raised in New York, Andrea lives in Brooklyn with her husband and French Bulldogs, Nacho and Coco.
