Tonia Bottoms is a Managing Director, Senior Managing Counsel, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Advocate and is a member of BNY Mellon Pershing’s Executive Committee. 

In her legal role, Tonia specializes in retirement plans and financial products, providing guidance, ensuring compliance and oversight of retirement and education savings products. Tonia also works on regulatory and legislative matters. 

As DEI Advocate, Tonia works to advance diversity as a business imperative and inclusion as an essential leadership skill, bringing perspectives to senior leadership. She implemented meaningful change in underrepresented populations. 

Tonia is a Global Co-Chair of IMPACT, an Employee Resource group with 5,000 members and served as the chair of IMPACT’s Black Leadership Forum. She’s been recognized externally as a 3-time 100 Ethnic Minority Executive, an EMpower Role Model list sponsored by INvolve, and among the 2022 Most Influential Black Lawyers by Savoy Magazine. 

Tonia is co-chair of the SIFMA Retirement and Education Savings Committee. She is active in her community, serving on the boards of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County, the American Red Cross (Greater NY Region) and the Money Management Institute Gateway Foundation. 

Tonia holds Bachelor of Science in Finance and Juris Doctorate degrees from the University of Maryland.
