What is Time Warner’s approach to diversity?

As a leading content company, Time Warner tells the world’s stories to a global audience.  Therefore, cultivating diversity – of our content, products, and people – is a business imperative.   This means recognizing the direct connection between our employees and our customers.  In an increasingly diverse marketplace, our success in attracting, developing and advancing diverse talent, internally and externally, is vital to our continued financial success.

What sets your recruiting, career development, and work-life programs apart?

At Time Warner there is an intense and comprehensive focus on all 3 of these areas.  Our global recruitment, people development and work-life program departments operate separately but work in tandem on a daily basis to ensure an employee’s needs are addressed from the day he/she walks into the door as a new hire.  We have a detailed orientation program, comprehensive people development programs like Breakthrough Leadership and Chairman’s that were recently recognized by Catalyst as a best practice and an active work life program that focuses on issues like work life balance, health, elder/child care, autism support and other critical issues an employee may have deal with in daily life.

How long has Time Warner been a corporate partner of CUP’s and why does your organization value this relationship?

Time Warner joined CUP as a corporate partner in 2010.  We see CUP as a vital partner of ours since it provides a place for our young and diverse employees to enhance their leadership skills, network with peers, and attend great events like last year’s Media and Entertainment Forum.

How do you think CUP will have the greatest impact?

In 5 years, the Council of Urban Professionals has become as a groundbreaking professional organization that has taken a leadership position as a trainer, advocate, convener and information provider to New York City’s next generation of diverse talent.  This mission is vital to the future success of tomorrow’s leaders and Time Warner is excited to be supporting such efforts.
