Kennedy J. Woods

I was born and raised in New York City. There was a desire to get out of comfortability and familiarity, so I set my sights on Los Angeles and moved in January of 2020. That proved to be the most challenging, but the best time to frame the next phase of my life.

I studied at New York University in tandem with working at a venture-capital-backed startup. After three years in college, and much to the chagrin of my conventional parents, I instead pursued a career in the tech and startup space. This further cultivated my lifelong pursuit of entrepreneurship and gave me leverageable skills I wouldn’t have gained otherwise. Prior to founding my music services and tech company, Convey Creatives, I led digital and experiential campaigns as an account manager for a media-tech company and was assigned to brands such as Spotify, Dyson, Lyft, Nike, and fintech startups. Along with being a full-time founder, I lend my expertise as a consultant to Format Entertainment, a music supervision company for Marvel Cinematic Universe, TV, Films, and brand commercials, where I oversee the digital strategy.

Beyond my professional objectives, I have a yearning to extend opportunities and resources to underserved communities in the form of cultural immersion, apprenticeships, and entrepreneurship skill-building. The organizations I’ve been involved with throughout my life include Jack and Jill of America Inc, Y.P.W.W., Young Men of Valor, Beacon Light Outreach, Think Watts Foundation. I hope to continue on this path, ideally with a future foundation of my own.

I enjoy traveling, learning about ancient civilizations, and learning fluency in Spanish and Italian. Ethnically, I am Black American and Antiguan, where I get to enjoy the best of both cultures, in the food and history. Dogs are angels on Earth and the ocean is my sanctuary.
