Fassa Sar

Fassa Sar is Manager of Acquisitions for Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions (SPWA). Since joining the division in 2018 as an intern, Fassa has worked on various film acquisitions including Searching starring John Cho and Debra Messing, Eighth Grade directed by Bo Burnham, and most recently I Carry You With Me directed by Heidi Ewing, which went on to win the Audience Award at Sundance in 2020. 

Prior to joining SPWA, Fassa interned at Variety Magazine, United Talent Agency, and served as a Congressional intern for former Presidential candidates Senator Kamala Harris and Congressman Eric Swalwell. Fassa is driven by the socio-political impact of how media shapes our daily lives and committed to uncovering unique stories that define cultural conversations. 

As an individual with dual heritage, American and Senegalese, Fassa is devoted to amplifying emerging global filmmakers, writers, actors, and perspectives in this New Media era. She is a proud Bay Area native and graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a Bachelor’s in Political Science and a minor in Film, Media, TV Studies in 2018.
