Daniel Gamba, CFA, Managing Director, is Global Head of Active Equity Product Strategy and is a member of BlackRock's Global Operating Committee. He is responsible for platform strategy, product positioning, new product development, and client activities to drive commercial success across Active Equities. He leads active equity product strategy teams in the Americas, EMEA and Asia Pacific.
Prior to this role, Mr. Gamba was Head of iShares Americas Institutional Business where he led business strategy, client service and business development for iShares ETFs among institutional investors in the Americas. Mr. Gamba's service with the firm dates back to 2000, including his years with Barclays Global Investors (BGI), which merged with BlackRock in 2009. At BGI, he was the Chief Executive Officer of the Latin America & Caribbean business. In this role, he increased assets by over $30 billion in six years and expanded BGI's presence in Mexico City, Santiago, Bogota, and Sao Paulo. Mr. Gamba began his career with BGI as a Director of Global Strategy and was responsible for strategic planning and for merging BGI Japan trust and advisory businesses. Previously, he was a senior consultant at A.T. Kearney. Earlier in his career, Mr. Gamba worked in marketing and product management at Procter & Gamble in 1990-1995.
Mr. Gamba is a member of the CFA Institute Board of Governors. Previously he was a member of the Education Advisory Committee for CFA Institute. Mr. Gamba earned a BS degree in industrial engineering as first place in his class from Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru in 1989 and an MBA degree in finance and economics from Northwestern University in 1997.
