Akinyemi T. Akiwowo is a Vice President in the Legal and Compliance Division of Morgan Stanley. As a member of the Global Regulatory Relations Group, Akinyemi engages in strategic and centralized management of the Firm’s regulators with a particular focus on responding to regulatory examinations and continuous monitoring activities.

Immediately prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Akinyemi was Principal Counsel in the Department of Enforcement of the Financial Industry Regulatory Organization (FINRA), and was also in private practice focusing on securities litigation, white collar criminal defense and corporate internal investigations.

Akinyemi is a 2005 graduate of Seton Hall University School of Law where he served as the Student Bar Association President, and a 2002 graduate of Loyola University of Maryland, where he served as the President of the Student Government Association. Akinyemi is a member of the Morgan Stanley Legal and Compliance Division Diversity & Inclusion Committee (LCDDIC), and has worked extensively on the Morgan Stanley Legal and Compliance Supplier Diversity Initiative, working to expand opportunities for minority and women owned law firms to be retained by Morgan Stanley. Akinyemi serves on the Board of Trustees of Cornerstone Academy, an elementary school and community center in Ijebu Ode, Nigeria. Akinyemi resides in Jersey City, New Jersey with his wife and two small children.
