The CUP Executive Leadership Program (ELP) kicked off with a two and a half day retreat on October 24-26, 2016 at The Westin Jersey City. CUP ELP is a leadership development program aimed at developing high-performing professionals who have been nominated by their firms. On Saturday, September 17, nine classes of CUP Fellows gathered for an interactive and enriching day of development and networking. The 2016 Convening, hosted by Ogilvy & Mather, focused on skills and strategies for the authentic leader, including a CUP Fellows Alumni Panel featuring Gabrielle Lyse Brown, Director of Diversity & Inclusion, New York City Bar Association (2014 Fellow), Rakhi Bahadkar-Rajpaul, Director, Anti-Money Laundering Investigation Group, Morgan Stanley Smith Barney (2012 Fellow), Celina Lee, Founder, Give One Dream (2015 Fellow), Saxonny Rich, Customer Success Executive, Everwise (2013 Fellow), and Paul Rodriguez, Deputy Counsel to the Mayor of New York City (2014 Fellow); and workshops on time management, sponsorship, feedback, and negotiation, with the negotiation session led by 2014 Fellow Fatimah Gilliam, Founder and CEO of The Azara Group. The program also included keynote remarks from Kenji Yoshino, Author, Covering: The Hidden Assault on Our Civil Rights, followed by a discussion on covering with Angelina Darrisaw, Founder, C-Suite Coach (2014 Fellow) and Esther Kim, Vice President, BlackRock (2014 Fellow). On Thursday, June 23, 2016, CUP held a Media Training Event at BNY Mellon. Rally Point Media Strategies conducted the workshop. The purpose of the media training is to help CUP members learn the tools needed to prepare them for potential media opportunities in their careers and as a member of the organization. This session seeks to familiarize members with the media landscape and techniques for handling a press interview.
