Timothy A. Wilkins is a corporate M&A partner at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.  He serves as the Co-Chair for the New York Office’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee. His practice focuses on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, private equity investments and joint ventures. Timothy has advised many of the leading international corporations on acquisitions in the technology, manufacturing and life sciences sectors. He is recognized by Global Counsel as a Leading Practitioner in both M&A and Private Equity in Japan and was recently awarded the Deal of the Year by M&A Atlas for advising Geely on its acquisition of Volvo Cars.

Prior to joining Freshfields, Timothy was an associate at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP where he maintained a broad practice of international corporate law in New York and Tokyo. He also served as a Ford Fellow at the International Peace Academy, a NGO think-tank on international peacekeeping missions.

Timothy is a graduate of Harvard College (magna cum laude), Harvard Law School and Harvard Business School, where he was awarded the Ford Foundation Fellowship in Public International Law.

Timothy is active in several social justice organizations.  He serves on the Board of Directors of the City Bar Fund of the New York City Bar Association, which oversees the Justice Center, the Cyrus R. Vance Center for International Justice, the Office for Diversity and the Lawyers Assistance Program. Timothy also serves on the City Bar’s Committee to Enhance Diversity and the Cyrus Vance Center Committee. Timothy is the founding Chair of the Steering Committee of The Opportunity Agenda, a non-profit organization dedicated to expanding equal opportunity.  He also serves on the National Board of the Peer Health Exchange, the Advisory Board of Equality Now and the Advisory Board of Legal Outreach.   He formerly served as a trustee of the Dalton School and the Practicing Attorneys for Law School Students (PALS).
