Derrick Steele is a Partner in EY’s Financial Services Office (FSO) with over 18 years of experience in providing advisory services to large financial services firms, insurance companies and asset management clients. He currently serves as the Americas Process & Controls Leader for EY’s FSO.
In addition, Derrick is the Global Client Service Partner for American Express. In this capacity, he oversees the global delivery of all services covering risk management, compliance, finance, internal audit, technology, business improvement, transaction and tax services.
With significant knowledge of and experience with financial, operational and technical accounting policy matters, SEC reporting, regulatory requirements and Sarbanes-Oxley 404, Derrick has assisted clients with an array of engagements ranging from large scale business transformation programs, internal controls assessments, creation of control self-assessments and control training programs.
Derrick has also led process improvement projects within finance, operations and technology functions for large international financial services organizations. He has provided primary oversight of project management, current state assessment and future state design, process and technology modifications across sub ledger and general ledger systems, user acceptance testing and management reporting design.
Derrick has a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and is a Certified Public Accountant in New York and North Carolina.
